In the highly competitive EdTech landscape, standing out required innovative features that could offer substantial value to both learners and hiring institutions. Coursana aimed to differentiate itself by integrating blockchain technology into its platform, which was relatively new in the education sector at the time. The primary goal was to enhance the credibility of certifications and streamline the job search process for learners.

Challenge

The challenge was to introduce blockchain certificates for learners, ensuring these certificates were easily verifiable by hiring institutions. This innovation needed to reduce fraud in certification and provide automatic job hunting features, ultimately helping institutes hire professionals with greater confidence.

Action

As the Head of Product Development, I led the initiative to integrate blockchain technology into Coursana’s platform. I coordinated with cross-functional teams, including developers, blockchain experts, and UX/UI designers, to create a seamless user experience. The steps included:

  1. Research and Planning: Conducted extensive market research to understand the needs of learners and hiring institutions. Planned the integration of blockchain technology to address these needs effectively.
  2. Blockchain Integration: Collaborated with blockchain specialists to develop a robust system for issuing and verifying certificates. This involved selecting the appropriate blockchain framework and ensuring the security and integrity of the certificates.
  3. Automated Job Hunting Feature: Designed an automated job hunting feature that allowed learners to share their verified certificates with potential employers directly from the platform.
  4. User Testing and Feedback: Conducted multiple rounds of user testing to gather feedback from both learners and hiring institutions. Iterated on the design and functionality based on this feedback to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience.
  5. Launch and Marketing: Developed a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, highlighting the unique blockchain feature. Coordinated with the marketing team to create awareness and promote the new functionality to both existing and potential users.

Solution

At Coursana, the challenge was clear: to stand out in a crowded EdTech market and provide tangible value to both learners and hiring institutions. The solution I envisioned was to leverage blockchain technology to create verifiable, fraud-proof certificates and automate the job hunting process.
